About Hunter’s Point South

Hunter’s Point South is located on the waterfront of Long Island City in the borough of Queens in New York City. It is a newly developing neighborhood with high-rise apartments under construction, an incredibly beautiful park and unobstructed views of the world famous New York skyline. Just one stop away from Manhattan on the NYC subway, it is literally a stone’s throw away from the magnificent Manhattan skyline.

With the opening of an incredible skyline viewing $66 Million dollar park just over a year ago,  and with the impending completion of two of the seven proposed high-rises, the development is now poised to become one of New York’s prime new neighborhoods. To this end, the application period for rental of the first phase of units has already started and will last until December 15, 2014. Click here for more Information on the application process.

At the heart of the Hunter’s Point South development, offering unobstructed skyline views of the New York skyline, is a breadthtaking waterfront park, aptly called Hunter’s Point South Park. It currently sits on a mere 5.5 acres of land at the edge of the East River, but is expected to ultimately grow to over 17 acres upon completion, covering along with its seamless partner, Gantry Plaza State Park, no less than one mile of waterfront property in Long Island City.  Both Hunter’s Point South and Gantry Plaza State parks emerged from collaborative efforts between the State and the City of New York. They were designed to create an aesthetic park environment along the LIC waterfront to replace the industrial brownfields that once existed there. The result of these efforts have seen the birth of two precious park jewels on the banks East River overlooking the magnificent skyline.

Hunter’s Point South Park, like Gantry Park is also more that just a lookout. It is an extraordinary place that marries the majestic New York skyline to the tranquility and peacefulness of the East River. The park is indeed an oasis of serenity in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the greatest city in the world.

Residentially, the area overlooking the Park, the East River and skyline is rapidly developing as a coveted New York neighborhood, with high-rises sprouting from the banks waterfront to provide enviable living accomodations. The area has also been the recent beneficiary of new schools, and a uniquely designed public library that promotes community is earmarked for the waterfront. Small wonder that thousands of New Yorkers as well as others have been anxiuosly awaiting this development are  expected become residents in the ensuing months and years.

With the advent of a growing residential community and the influx of more and more visitors, the expansion of the commercial community at Hunter’s Point is also in full stride. The evidence of this can be clearly seen with the rapidly growing list of businesses including new and exciting restaurants on the waterfront itself as well as on Vernon Boulevard just two blocks away. A buzzing nightlife is also infiltrating the community with bars, dance and comedy clubs springing up all over the area.
